The Benefits of a Steel Security Screen Door
A steel security screen door can offer your home much-needed protection from burglars and intruders. The heavy-duty construction of a steel security screen door makes it virtually impossible to kick in, unlike a wood door. The steel mesh also deters would-be intruders from even trying to break in as it is too difficult to cut through.
They’re durable
Most steel security screen doors are made of 14-gauge or 12-gauge steel. Gauge is a measure of how thick the steel is. The lower the number, the thicker and stronger the steel. So a 14-gauge steel security screen door is stronger than a 16-gauge steel door, which is stronger than an 18-gauge door. The strongest commercial-grade security screen doors have a 12-gauge frame and use a 1/2-inch mesh.
They offer security
A steel security screen door offers extra security for your home. They are made with a heavy-duty steel frame and have a steel mesh screen that is difficult to cut or kick in. They also have a stronger lock than a standard door, making it more difficult for burglars to get into your home.
They’re energy-efficient
Steel security screen doors are a great addition to any home. Not only do they provide an extra layer of security, but they’re also energy-efficient. Here are some of the benefits of steel security screen doors:
-They’re durable: Steel security screen doors are made to last. They’re built with heavy-duty materials that can withstand harsh weather conditions and wear and tear.
-They’re energy-efficient: Steel security screen doors help to keep your home cool in the summer and warm in the winter. They block out the hot sun in the summer and keep heat from escaping in the winter.
-They’re secure: Steel security screen doors are equipped with locks that make it difficult for burglars to break into your home. They also come with tamper-proof hinges that make it even more difficult for intruders to force their way into your home.
-They’re affordable: Steel security screen doors are a great value for the money. They offer a high level of protection at an affordable price.
How to Choose a Steel Security Screen Door
There are many things to consider when choosing a security screen door for your home. The most important factor is the level of security that you need. If you are looking for a door that will provide a high level of security, then you should consider a steel security screen door. Steel doors are much more difficult to break through than other types of doors, making them an ideal choice for those looking for extra security.
Consider the style
When you’re looking for a steel security screen door, there are several factors to consider. The style of the door is one of the most important choices you’ll make. Here are some things to keep in mind as you narrow down your options.
Do you want a traditional style door or something more modern? The style of the door can affect the overall look of your home, so it’s important to choose something that fits with your personal taste.
Do you want a door with a full-length glass panel or one with smaller panels? Full-length glass panels offer a clear view of the outside, but they can also be more vulnerable to break-ins. Smaller panels offer less of a view but may be more difficult for intruders to break through.
Do you need a door that is fire-rated? Fire-rated doors are designed to hold back heat and flames in the event of a fire, buying you precious time to escape. If you live in an area that is at high risk for wildfires, this may be an important factor in your decision.
Consider the size
While you may be tempted to buy the biggest door you can find, it’s important to consider the size of your doorway and the amount of space you have around it. A door that’s too big will be difficult to open and close, and a door that’s too small will leave gaps that could allow intruders to enter your home.
Consider the security features
A steel security screen door will offer you great peace of mind, knowing that your home is well-protected against intruders. But with so many different models and styles on the market, how do you choose the right one for your home? Here are some things to consider when making your decision:
-Security features: Look for a door that has a robust locking system, preferably with a deadbolt. The door should also be reinforced with steel or aluminum for added strength.
-Ease of use: Make sure the door is easy to open and close, even when carrying groceries or other items. A good quality door will have smooth hinges and a handle that is easy to grip.
-Visual appeal: Choose a door that complements the style of your home. If you have a traditional home, look for a security screen door with intricate scrollwork or other decorative details. For a modern home, look for a more streamlined design.
-Size: Measure the opening of your doorway to make sure you choose a door that will fit properly. You may also want to consider getting a custom-made door if you have an unusually large or small opening.
How to Install a Steel Security Screen Door
A steel security screen door is a great way to protect your home from intruders. Not only does it provide an extra layer of security, but it also looks great and can increase the value of your home. In this article, we’ll show you how to install a steel security screen door in your home.
Measure the door opening
The first step is to measure the door opening. Most doors are either 80” or 96” tall, and 36” or 48” wide. Our security screen doors are available in these sizes, as well as a few other heights and widths to fit custom door openings. If your door is a standard size, simply measure the height and width of the opening and refer to our sizing chart to find the door that will fit. If your door is a custom size, you will need to provide us with the exact measurements so we can custom-build a security screen door to fit your opening.
Install the door
Most steel security screen doors come with easy-to-follow instructions, so be sure to read them thoroughly before you begin. In general, installation begins with mounting the hinges to the door frame. Next, the door itself is mounted to the hinges. Once the door is in place, you’ll need to install the strike plate and latch. You may also need to install weather stripping around the door to seal it against drafts and keep insects from entering your home.
Install the screen
The first step is to clean the doorframe with a mild soap and water solution. Next, measure the door opening and cut the screen to size. Allow for a 1/8-inch clearance on all sides to ensure a proper fit. Once the screen is cut to size, fit it into the doorframe and attach it using screen spline and a spline roller. Start at the top of the screen and work your way down, being sure to keep the screen taut as you go. When you reach the bottom of the screen, trim off any excess material and tuck it under the lip of the frame.
